FAQ’s

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy combines talking and hypnosis to bring about therapeutic change for a wide range of both psychological and physical problems. Hypnosis brings about a relaxed state and focuses the attention so that beneficial suggestions can be made to help you to change negative thought patterns and reach your goals.

What does hypnosis feel like?

It is a very pleasant and relaxing feeling which could be described as the feeling of being on the edge of sleep or daydreaming. During hypnosis some clients will report hearing everything that is said while others may report hearing nothing but in both cases the subconscious mind is still aware of what is being said and can benefit from the suggestions being made.

Will I lose control?

No. You will remain aware and in control the whole time and can’t be made to do anything you would not normally do even whilst in hypnosis. You are able to come out of it should you want.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions required varies depending on the nature of the issue the client brings to the therapy room and the client’s commitment and openness to therapy. Anxiety, OCD, sleep problems and other general issues for example may require between 6 – 12 sessions, specific phobias are usually four sessions and stop smoking is treated in one intensive session.  The number of sessions will be discussed at the initial consultation.
